Beginning Game Graphics
Harry Evry
While this book does cover a lot of ground relating to game graphics, it would be safe to say that spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, and poor writing styles can be found on 95% of the pages of this book. What exactly did the five-person editorial staff and two proofreaders do to earn their paychecks? In addition, the first few chapters are written for people that have absolutely no knowledge of computers. While that may be acceptable for a "Computers for Dummies" book, it would be safe to assume that anyone picking up this book on game graphics has at least some experience using a computer or playing a video game, especially since this book is classified by the publisher as a "professional-trade-reference," college-level book.If you can make it through all the errors, avoid the unrelated illustrations, and stomach all the anecdotes Harry Evry includes about his younger years, you just might learn something from this book. If you're interested in reading a useful reference written in intelligible English, however, this book is not for you.
